FAQ
Questions about specifying architectural mesh?
From choosing the right mesh and finish to understanding samples, fixings and installation systems, our FAQs cover the practical questions that can help you develop your project with confidence.
How do I choose the right architectural mesh for my project?
Start with what you want the mesh to achieve rather than a particular product. Consider the desired appearance, transparency, application, panel size, material, finish, supporting structure and any performance requirements. If you send us your drawings, reference images or even an initial concept, our team can help identify suitable mesh patterns and attachment systems.
Can I see samples before specifying a mesh?
Yes. Samples are particularly useful for comparing wire or strand size, aperture, material, finish and texture. However, architectural mesh can look very different across a full elevation than it does in a small sample. We can also show you photographs and examples of completed projects to help you understand how different meshes behave at architectural scale.
When should I involve Locker Architectural?
Ideally, as early as possible. Early involvement gives us more opportunity to consider the mesh, panel sizes, finish, supporting structure and attachment method together. It can also identify potential fabrication, installation or cost issues before the surrounding structure and specification become difficult to change.
Do you only supply the mesh, or can you help develop the complete system?
Our involvement depends on the project. For straightforward requirements, we may simply supply a defined mesh or fabricated panel. On more complex architectural projects, we can help develop the mesh specification, material, finish, panel arrangement and attachment approach, provide samples and drawings, and support the appointed contractor with relevant technical information.
What information should I send you about my project?
Send us whatever you have. Ideally, that includes drawings, approximate dimensions or area, the application, location, intended appearance, preferred mesh if known, performance requirements and project programme. Reference photographs or sketches are also useful. If some of that information isn’t available yet, that’s fine – early-stage concepts are often worth discussing before the specification becomes fixed.
